Circular Tech Expo 2026: Meet Barcodetrade on Stand D40

Circular Tech Expo 2026 runs on Tuesday 13 and Wednesday 14 October at the Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre, and we'll be on Stand D40. Registration is free. Farnborough is our home town, so this one's close to home. Below you'll find what's on at the expo, what you can see on Stand D40, and how to spend your two days well.

What Circular Tech Expo 2026 is actually about

Circular Tech Expo 2026 is built for the people who decide what happens to technology once its first owner is done with it: IT directors, CIOs, sustainability leads, procurement teams. Expect a Lifecycle Management stage, an Enterprise Leadership stage, workshops, networking lounges and a live repair centre. Doors open 9am to 5pm on the Tuesday and 9am to 3:30pm on the Wednesday.

Most circular economy talk is about laptops and servers. Barcode scanners, mobile computers and label printers barely get a mention, even though they're the devices that stop a warehouse dead when they fail. That's the gap we work in.

Why the circular economy matters for scanners and handhelds

A barcode scanner doesn't look like an environmental problem. It's small, it costs far less than a pallet truck, and it gets swapped without anybody noticing. Now picture 200 of them across three sites and the circular economy argument gets practical very fast. Every device kept in service is one that doesn't need making, shipping and scrapping. For most electronics the carbon is spent at the start of the product's life, which makes the longest possible service life usually the lowest impact choice. Often the cheaper one too.

A circular economy approach to hardware comes down to a few habits: repair before replacing, refurbish before buying new, rent when the need is temporary, and send devices back into use when you're finished with them. Finance and sustainability both get something out of it, which is rarer than you'd think.

Why Barcodetrade is on Stand D40

We've supplied barcode and POS equipment since 2005, and for us the circular economy isn't a coat of paint on the brochure. It's how the business runs. One device can go round the whole loop with us: sell, refurbish, rent, repair, buyback, recycle. Plenty of suppliers stop at the first step. We hold ISO 9001:2015 accreditation and work with Zebra, Honeywell and Datalogic equipment, among others.

So expect a conversation, not a catalogue. We'd like to talk about keeping the devices you already own working for longer, and getting fair value from the ones you don't need any more.

5 things to see and ask about on Stand D40

1. The whole circular economy loop in one place

Instead of five suppliers for five jobs, you get one team who can talk you through every stage. Got a stack of devices gathering dust in a cupboard? Bring the list and we'll talk through our buyback programme with you.

2. Refurbished equipment with clear tiers

We refurbish to three levels: Basic, Standard and Premium. Basic and Standard carry a 30 day warranty, Premium carries 90 days, and extended warranty is available on all three. Our refurbished range can cost up to 70 percent less than new. Refurbishing is the circular economy at its most practical, so ask to see what each tier means in practice.

3. Repair that gets devices back on the floor

Standard repairs have a 7 day turnaround, 5 days for contract holders. If you can't wait, Advanced Swap ships a replacement from our buffer stock first and you send the faulty one back afterwards, with next day delivery available. Every repair carries a 30 day warranty.

4. Rental for the busy weeks

Black Friday is 27 November. If your peak season needs extra scanners, ask about daily, weekly or monthly rental, with devices configured and tested before dispatch. Rental is the circular economy's answer to a short spike, because nobody has to manufacture a new device for a six week job. It's far easier to plan this at Circular Tech Expo 2026 than in the middle of November.

5. The CO₂ calculator, with your own numbers

Pick a product type (scanner, mobile computer, POS system or label printer), choose whether you're buying refurbished, repairing or renting, add a quantity, and it shows the estimated carbon saving in everyday comparisons like miles driven. It's an estimate, and we'll happily talk about what goes into it. It's a handy starting point for your Scope 3 reporting.

Who should visit Stand D40

If you're visiting Circular Tech Expo 2026 and run scanners, mobile computers or label printers in retail, logistics, manufacturing, healthcare or distribution, Stand D40 is for you. So is whoever signs off the budget for them, or the sustainability report that sits on top. You don't need a purchase in mind. Plenty of useful conversations start with "we have 80 handhelds and no idea how old they are". If that sounds familiar, tell us what you've got and we'll say plainly which are worth keeping, which are worth repairing, and which should come back to us.

How to get the most from Circular Tech Expo 2026

Register first. It takes two minutes and it's free. Then bring four things: how many scanners, mobile computers and printers you run, which ones are past their best, when your busiest weeks fall, and what your sustainability team needs to report. With those in hand, a ten minute chat on Stand D40 can turn into a proper plan.

It also helps to know what to ask any exhibitor who talks about the circular economy. Here are five, and you're welcome to bring them to Stand D40:

  • What happens to the device at the end of its life?

  • How is condition graded, and what does the warranty cover?

  • Who actually does the repair, and how long does it take?

  • Can you show how the carbon claim was worked out?

  • What do I do with the kit I no longer need?

We'd like to be asked all five. We'd rather answer hard questions at Circular Tech Expo 2026 than easy ones.
